How to Pay with PayPal
PayPal is one of the most convenient methods of sending payments. You can easily buy goods at retailers such as Walmart, Target, or Best Buy by logging into your PayPal account instead of using a credit card. If you need to transfer money to someone, PayPal’s got you covered, too. Business owners can also sign up for a PayPal business debit card, which will withdraw funds from your PayPal account.
Part 1Signing Up for PayPal
Visit the PayPal homepage. In the upper, right-hand corner, click on the "Sign Up" button.
Use a personal account to send money to friends or to shop online. However, a business account is best if you are using PayPal to pay for business services. With a business account, several people can use the same PayPal account.
PayPal lets you use an email instead of a user name. Choose an email address that you use regularly. When PayPal wants to send you notices, it will send them to this email address.
A secure password will protect your account from hackers. Create a secure password that contains the following:
Your password should be at least eight characters long. You should use a combination of upper- and lower-case letters, as well as numbers and special characters (e.g., #, @, &). You should use misspelled words for increased protection.
PayPal will want information such as your name, date of birth, address, and phone number.
You must link in order to transfer money between your PayPal and bank accounts. After you link, you are good to start shopping!
Part 2Shopping Online with PayPal
If a website accepts PayPal, there should be a “PayPal” icon on the page. It should be near the credit card icons. Click on the PayPal icon.
To make payment, simply enter your email address and password.
If you don’t have any funds in your PayPal account, you’ll be asked how you want to pay. Select from your list of linked bank accounts or credit cards.
Review the transaction details and then submit your purchase by clicking on “Pay Now.” You should receive a receipt from PayPal in your email inbox.
Part 3Transferring Money to Someone
Navigate to the PayPal webpage. Log in using your email address and password. Once logged in, click on “My PayPal,” which should appear in the top right-hand side of the screen.
” This should be at the top of the screen, below the magnifying glass icon.
There are two types of payments you can make. Select the appropriate one:
Pay for goods or services. Use this option for business-related payments. PayPal will charge your recipient 2.9% of the amount sent, plus an additional 30 cents. Send money to friends and family. Use this option for personal payments. Your recipient won’t be charged a fee.
If the person is a contact, their name should show up. You can click on it. After entering the recipient’s name or email address, click on “Next.”
You can send as much money as you have in your PayPal balance. If you want to send more, then the extra will be taken from your linked account.
If you want to add a note, you can add it at this time. Click “Continue” at the bottom of the page.
” This button appears at the bottom of the page. Your money will leave your account as soon as your recipient accepts the transfer.
Part 4Using a PayPal Business Debit Card
You can get the debit card if you’ve received at least $500 in your personal account over the past year. If not, you need to create a business account. You can either create a new business account or upgrade your current personal account. If you upgrade, you can keep your same profile name and email address.
Switch to a business account by logging into your personal account and selecting “Upgrade to Business account,” which should be near the top of the screen. Follow the prompts. You’ll need to select either a Standard or Pro business account. Standard is free, but a Pro account costs $30 a month.
When you use the debit card, PayPal will deduct from your PayPal funds. However, if the funds ever get too low, you’ll need to be linked to a bank or credit card as a backup account. Click on “Wallet” and then on “Link a card or bank.” Enter your account details.
Select “Products & Services” and then click on “PayPal Business Debit MasterCard” from the “View All PayPal Products” drop-down menu. Provide your personal information, such as Social Security Number. Confirm other information, such as address and phone number.
Submit your application by clicking the “Agree and Continue” button. Wait to see if you are approved. If you’re denied, you can reapply after 30 days. The card should arrive in the mail within 7 to 10 business days.
Use your PayPal debit card just like any other debit card. Swipe the card at a business establishment and enter your PIN. Funds will be withdrawn from your PayPal balance. Once the balance is depleted, money will be withdrawn from your backup account.
