How to Pretend to Have Ice Powers

It can be super fun to pretend to have ice powers, especially after seeing movies like Frozen! It’s a great way to prank people into thinking you believe you have these powers, and it’s fun to dress up and act differently than normal. Wear clothes and makeup that make you look like an ice-queen or king, find ways to talk about the weather with your friends, and learn as much as you can about ice and snow.

Hair chalk or colored hairspray are great ways for you to add an icy cool streak to your hair. Add just 2 or 3 streaks to your head so that it looks like you can’t control what’s happening. You can pretend that these streaks are natural because of your powers.[1]When the hair chalk or hairspray washes out, tell your friends that you had to cover up the streaks. If they ask why, be mysterious about it and say something like, “I just needed them to not show.”

Don’t go overboard with the snowflake accessories, otherwise, it will seem too obvious what you are trying to do. Pick a pair of snowflake earrings, a necklace with a snowflake charm, a bracelet, or even a keyring with a snowflake to show your attachment to all things related to ice. You could even pretend that these pieces of jewelry have something to do with your powers. Tell your friends that you can’t take off the jewelry and if they ask why, say something like, “Bad things would happen. They help me control my powers.”

Try to keep your wardrobe simple and opt for light blue, silver, or white shirts or dresses. If you can’t wear these colors every day, try to work them in somewhere, like your purse, backpack, shoes, or wallet.[2] Sparkly clothes are lots of fun and can replicate the look of someone who has ice powers well, too.

Simply sweep some sparkly shadow over your eyelids in the morning to complete the look. You could even add a dab at the corner of your eyes for a more dramatic look.[3] Teal or silver eyeshadow would also look great. If you’re allowed, you could even wear blue eye contacts.

Like Jack Frost from Marvel and many other characters with ice powers, you could make your skin appear lighter so that your skin looks ice cold. You can do this if you’re a boy or a girl—just go to the store and buy foundation that is 1 or 2 shades lighter than your natural skin tone. Put it on in the morning and blend it in as best you can.[4]If friends mention that you look pale, act like you’re uncomfortable that they’re noticing. Make a joke about needing to go to the tanning salon.

” Get a long pair of white or silver gloves and start wearing them with all your outfits. When people ask why you wear them, say something cryptic like, “I have to,” or, “I’m scared of what will happen if I don’t.” If you have to take your gloves off, act nervous when you’re around water.

It could be fun to put on a pair of sunglasses when you get angry or upset and to act mysterious when your friends ask why you’re doing that. Say something like, “I wouldn’t want my icy stare to cause any real problems.”[5]This won’t work all the time, as you probably can’t wear sunglasses in school and shouldn’t wear them when it’s dark outside. But it can be a fun addition to your icy ensemble!

Pranking Your Friends

1
If you know your friends are around, go to a sink and turn on the faucet. Hold your hands under the water and stare at them like you’re concentrating hard. When your friends come around the corner to see what you’re doing, act surprised and quickly turn off the faucet.[6] If they ask what you were doing, say something like, “Nothing. Nothing, I was just… washing my hands.”

If there is a snowstorm coming, say something like, “Yeah, I was thinking of making it—I heard it was going to snow a lot this weekend.” Or, “Be careful if you’re out tonight. I’m planning an—I heard the roads are supposed to be slippery.”[7]If your friends are talking about how they wish there could be a snow day, say something like, “I’ll see what I can do.” When they stare at you, say, “I mean, I wish that would happen, too!”

Pretend like the cold doesn’t bother you. If it’s really cold in a room, take off your jacket and say, “Why is it so warm in here?”[8] Warning: Don’t do this ifyou’re actually cold or will beoutdoors for a long time. Talk about the snow and ice whenever you get a chance. If people are complaining about the cold, stare at them and say, “I wish it could always be this cold.” Comment about how beautiful you think ice is and how you wish there could be more snow.[9] Keep yourself from complaining about the weather, even if you are cold or tired of the ice. That definitely wouldn’t make it seem like you have ice powers!

Put a bottle of water into the freezer overnight. When you have friends over, give everyone a bottle of unfrozen water and sit down with your frozen one. When you go to open it, say, “Is anyone else’s water frozen?” When your friends say no, stare at your hands like you’re scared of them. Make sure to sit with your hands around your bottle for a minute or two so that your friends can’t tell it was already frozen.

You can’t always keep your hands from being warm, but if you’re about to hang out with your friends, get your hands as cold as you possibly can. As soon as you can, make sure to touch your friends’ arms or hands so that they comment on how cold they are. When they say something about it, respond with something like, “Oh, yeah, my blood just tends to run a little cold.” Or, you could say, “I just can’t get them to warm up. Lots of weird things have been happening lately …”

1
Studying characters who have ice powers is a great way for you to pick up on some acting tips. Pay attention to how they act, what they do, and how they love the cold. Check out some of these great characters for inspiration:[10] Jack Frost from Marvel Elsa from Frozen Frozone from The Incredibles The White Witch from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Anderson The Ice King from "Adventure Time" Iceman from X-Men Killer Frost from “The Flash”

After you watch some movies or read some books that feature characters with ice powers, go online and read more about each one. You can find out how they got their powers, what their weaknesses are, and how you can act more like them.[11]For example, did you know that Frozone can only make ice when there is moisture in the air and when he is hydrated?

Read articles online, watch videos, or check out some books from your local library. Memorize enough information to make it sound like this is just something you know since it is a part of you.[12] You could even learn about some of the snowier regions of the world and pick out a few facts to memorize about each place. For example, Quebec City (Canada), Buffalo (New York), and Chamonix (France) are 3 really snowy places you could learn about.

Use the computer to look up weather forecasts to see what things are supposed to be like for a few weeks at a time. If you can “predict” the weather in advance, you could trick your friends into thinking you have something to do with it.[13]If you live somewhere where it doesn’t get cold and icy, feel free to research other areas that are getting a lot of snow. Talk about them and about how you wish you could be there.

You could learn how to make snow, make frozen bubbles when the temperature outside is below freezing, create condensation and frost, or melt ice quickly. Search online to find different experiments you can do at home.[14]Doing cool ice and snow experiments is a great way for you to become an ice expert, which will help you pretend to have ice powers!Warning: Always ask your parentsfor permission before you do ascience experiment!
