How to Make Garlic Bread Sticks
Whether you are looking for an alternative to the standard bread and biscuits you serve with dinner or you'd like to replicate the warm and doughy appetizers you get at your favorite restaurant, garlic bread sticks are an attractive option for home chefs. With a few basic ingredients and a favorite recipe, you can make bread sticks that are soft on the inside and crisp and garlicky on the outside. Make garlic bread sticks by rolling out a standard dough into stick formations and spreading butter and garlic over them before baking.
Part 1Preparing the Dough
Having them ready at your workspace will allow you to grab them when you need them instead of hunting through the pantry or the kitchen while you are preparing the dough.
Measure 1 and 1/2 cups (337.5 ml) of warm water. Open a package of active dry yeast. Melt 2 tbs. (1/8 cup) of unsalted butter. Measure 4 and 1/4 cups (1.25 qt.) of all purpose flour. Set aside 2 tbs. (1/8 cup) of sugar. Get 1 tbs. (1/16 cup) of salt.
Cover the bowl and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Check the mixture and make sure it is frothy.
Add the yeast mixture to those dry ingredients and then add the butter.
Mix everything with a wooden spoon until it is combined. If you are using a standing mixer, attach the paddle to combine.
Part 2Making the Breadsticks
You can either grease the sheet or line it with parchment paper.
Part 3Making the Garlic Topping
Take 1 stick of unsalted butter out of the fridge. Measure 2 tsp. (1/3 oz.) of garlic powder. Measure 2 tsp. (1/3 oz.) of salt.
You can heat them in the microwave or the oven when you are ready to serve.
