Tofu is a soybean curd typically sold packed in water. It makes an excellent source of protein and is an alternative to meat that can be endlessly flavored and seasoned. One way to bring additional flavor and a smoother texture to tofu is to marinate it first in an acidic liquid that has been seasoned to your liking.

This will remove any excess moisture from the tofu and allow the marinade to be absorbed. Leave this in place for 30 minutes to overnight. The longer you press it, the better the tofu will soak up the marinade.

The tofu can marinate overnight if desired. Stir the mixture if you combine everything in the bowl. Shake the mixture if you choose to combine it separately in a jar or other closed container before adding it to the tofu.
