How to Finger Knit Out of Fabric Scraps

Finger knitting out of fabric scraps is a great way to use extra fabric. It is also an easy way to use up scraps that are too small to use for anything else. You can make the same stuff out of fabric that you can out of yarn; it's just more unique. It is a great activity to try, and this wikiHow will show you how step-by-step!

1
The first thing you need to do is gather your fabric scraps. If you already have fabric scraps on hand, you can skip this step. If you don't, just put any fabric scraps you have into a box or bag. You can make fabric scraps by cutting leftover fabric into pieces. Once you have a good amount of scraps, you are good to go!

If desired, you can sort through your scraps and choose which ones to finger knit with. There is no right or wrong way to sort through them, but one way is to remove all of the pieces that are big enough to be used for something else. Then take the remaining ones and find the ones that will be easiest to finger knit with (the stretchy ones.)

Start at a couple centimeters away from a corner, and cut along the edge of the fabric, trying to keep the strip about a centimeter wide. When you run out of fabric to cut, you should have a strip of fabric left. Cut up all your scraps this way until you have a pile of fabric strips.

Once you have a pile of fabric strips, it is time to start sewing them. Take one and sew the edge of it to the edge of another. Keep sewing them together until you have one long strip of fabric.

If you want to, you can perfect the fabric strip by cutting off uneven edges, extra fabric, and thread tails. Make sure that the fabric is still wide enough so it won't break, though.
