Being able to place your serve while playing volleyball is a very valuable skill and takes time and practice. Read on for a few ways of starting to master placing a volleyball serve.

Know the correct stance and footwork of serving a volleyball. It is important to know how to toss and hit the ball as well.

Just like in hitting, the ball will soar in the direction that your shoulders are pointed.

If you swing your arm across your body after hitting the ball then it will most likely go more in the direction of the way you swung your arm rather than going straight.

You will want to place your feet slightly wider than your shoulders. Make sure your knees are bent. Extend your non-dominant hand and place the ball slightly off of your palm. Hold your dominant hand in the gesture of the number four, placing your thumb on your palm and wrapping your fingers over it.

If it goes where you wanted it to then you can try other spots until you feel confident placing your serve. If not, try adjusting the way your body is faced or the way you swing your arm. Find what method works for you then practice that until you fell confident placing your serve.

Take a break, calm down, and then keep going. Even if you don't get it down the first few days or weeks you work at it try not to get angry at yourself.
