How to Design a Shower Head Mount and Shampoo Holder in Siemens NX12

Choose "Inches" for the measurements, and "Model" for the template. Name the file, and save it in a folder so that you can get back to it.

Click on "Sketch" in the upper left corner. Choose the plane for your sketch; the XY plane was utilized in this demonstration. Click "OK".

Part 2
Creating the Base

Select the "Line" tool from the "Direct Sketch" table. Hover over the origin, and wait until the cursor show three dots. Click on "Existing Point - Sketch Origin" and enter the dimensions. It is better to enter the dimensions manually using the keyboard to ensure correct measurements. Hit ↵ Enter after inputting the "Length" and "Angle" values.

Click on "Finish Sketch" in the upper left corner. Then click on "Extrude".

Select the curve by clicking on the sketch you drew. Under "Limits," the "Start Distance" should be "0" and the "End Distance" should be "12".

Rotate the base so that the back side is visible. Use the "Sketch" tool to create a new sketch on the back side. Use the second image provided to draw an outline of the holders, using the "Line" tool. Use the "Quick Trim" tool to crop the lines indicated in the third image.

Click on "Finish Sketch". Click on the "Extrude" tool. Select the curve making sure the "Start Distance" is "0" and the "End Distance" is "-1". Select the "Boolean Subtract" option.

Use the "Edge Blend" tool with a radius of "0.25" inches to blend the edges.

Click on "New Sketch" and select the highlighted surface in the first image. Use the "Line" tool and follow the outline indicated by the second image. Use the "Quick Trim" tool to remove the lines indicated in the third image.

Click on the "Extrude" tool and select the curve you just sketched. Make sure the "Start Distance" is "0" and the "End Distance" is "4" inches. Use the "Boolean Inferred" option to extrude the sketch.

Select the "Offset curve" option from the "Direct sketch Menu" and select the square you just sketched. The "Distance" should be set to "-0.15" inches. Make sure the back side (the one closer to the base) connects both ends of the offset curve forming a closed square.

Use the "Extrude" tool to select the inner square you just sketched. After selecting the curve, make sure the "Start Distance" is "0" and the end distance is "-3.85" inches. Select the "Boolean Subtract" option. Click "OK"

Click on the "Edge Blend" tool, and "Select" the outer corners of the shampoo holder. The radius for the "Edge Blend" tool should be set to "0.15" inches.

Select the "Line" tool. Create a line "1.85" inches to the right and then "1.85" inches up, in order to get to the center of the base. Use the "Point" tool to mark the center, then use the "Quick Trim" tool to remove the lines. Use the "Circle" tool to sketch a circle taking the point created as the center of that circle. The diameter should be "0.35" inch.

Click on the "Pattern Feature" tool. "Select" the circle you sketched to be duplicated. The layout should be "Circular". Choose the vector to be "Perpendicular" to the surface; in this case, the Y-axis was chosen as a vector, and the point was taken to be the center of the circle's arc. Under "Angular Direction", select "Pitch and Span" for spacing. Define the "Pitch" as "Angle". Make the "Pitch Angle" "30" and the "Span Angle" "360". Under "Radiate", check the box that says "Create Concentric Members" and "Include First Circle". Select "Count and Pitch" for spacing. "Count" should be "2" and "Pitch Distance" should be "1" inch. Click on "Extrude" and select the outline of the holes making sure the center point is also selected. Make sure the "Start Distance" is "0" and the "End Distance" is "-2" inches. Make sure the "Boolean Subtract" option is selected.

First, sketch the construction lines using the "Line" tool. One horizontal line with a width of "3" inches, and a second horizontal line with a width of "1.5" inches. Next sketch two more lines, vertically from the ends of the horizontal lines, with a height of "1.5" inches each. Next, use the remaining dimensions to finish the sketch. Finally, use the "Quick Trim" tool to remove the construction lines.

Use the "Line" tool to create two lines "3" inches from the bottom corners, inward. Use the "Line" tool a second time to create two more vertical lines off the ends of the previous lines.
